Lead auditor courses move fast and assume you already know the standard. This plan gets you there in about 20 hours.

1 Week 1 — the standard’s structure

2 Week 2 — the requirements in depth

3 Week 3 — auditing

4 Week 4 — certification audits and exam practice

6 How the course is assessed

Most UK lead auditor courses combine continuous assessment (role-plays, exercises, participation) with an exam. CQI and IRCA’s own course table describes a 2-hour written exam; some providers now set an online multiple-choice exam after the course; PECB’s exam is on day 5. The lead auditor page compares formats.
